LLESSON DESCRIPTION:
Students discover the nature of mechanical advantage as they use pulleys to lift each other 3 feet off the ground.

TIME REQUIRED: 45-60 minutes

OBJECTIVES:
Students learn about simple machines, ropes, pulleys, friction and mechanical advantage..

FACILITIES REQUIREMENTS:
Outdoors only. Requires a tree of sufficient height to suspend the pulley apparatus.

SAFETY:
Students are only lifted 3 feet off the ground. The safety factors involved in this lesson allow for zero tolerance for misbehavior. Students must follow the safety directions of the instructor or they will not be allowed to participate.
