LESSON DESCRIPTION:

Students put their hobby skills to the test as they build a flying craft that is fired from a sling; soars 5 times as fast as a paper airplane; and exhibits some of the flight characteristics of a boomerang.

TIME REQUIRED:
60 minutes

OBJECTIVES:
Students learn about drag, Bernoulli effect, balance, center of mass, and angle of attack.

FACILITIES REQUIREMENTS:
Needs table space for all participants and a large outdoor space to flight
test the Kimoto flyers.

SAFETY:
This activity requires the use of scissors. Students need to use caution when launching their flyers.
