EARTH AND LIFE SCIENCEBALANCE: As students create butterflies out of mylar that seemingly defies gravity, they learn what scientists mean by the center of gravity and its properties (1st through 6th grades). ROCKETS TO PLUTO: Students use an athletic field to create a scale model of the solar system that gives them a sense of the relative sizes and distances of the various planets. Then they try to launch air powered rockets to the furthest planet in our solar system. (2nd thru 5th grades) FEEDBACK: By doing simple experiments that confound the students' sense of sight, sound and time, they discover what it might be like to have a 'learning disability'. (1st through 6th grade) REACTION TIME: In a series of group and partner activities, students utilize simple ways to measure reaction time using the sense of sight, sound, and touch. (K through 6th grade) nervous system, electricity.
